Understanding match signals

What the matching engine considers and what it deliberately ignores.

Last updated August 3, 2026

What matching considers

Match placement is computed from structured profile data:

  • Stage alignment between the raise and the mandate
  • Sector and sub-sector overlap
  • Geographic overlap
  • Cheque size versus round size
  • Profile completeness and freshness

What it ignores

Matching does not consider private notes, message content, deal room documents, or anything you have not explicitly published to your profile.

Improving your placement

The single largest lever is completeness. A profile missing stage or sector cannot rank for filters that use them. The second lever is freshness: stale records are down-weighted.

Matching is not advice

A high match score is a structural similarity signal. It is not a recommendation, an endorsement, or any form of investment advice.
